Simultaneous Visual and Infra-Red photography makes it easy to observe and define heat loss from buildings, machinery , livestock. 

In some cases heat loss is desirable, but in other cases, such as dwellings, heat loss is expensive energy loss.

This type of photography can also be used to assess the cooling effects of interventions such as shade cloth , misting etc.
